Passerelle des Arts, Luxemburg

Reflective craftsmanship in stainless steel.

In the heart of the European quarter on the Kirchberg Plateau, the new Passerelle des Arts connects pedestrians and cyclists to two iconic museums: the Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean (Mudam) and the Musée Dräi Eechelen. The 87-metre-long bridge winds its way through the picturesque state forest of Trois Glands, combining a slender, contemporary design with durable materials.

The main contractor for the steel structure was Viry Fayat Group, specialists in high-quality infrastructure projects.

Passerelle des Arts, Kirchberg

Van Geenen's role.

For the Passerelle des Arts, Van Geenen carried out the surface treatment of 28 large stainless steel panels (1D finish, each in various dimensions) mounted on the sides of the bridge.
Our work included:

  • One-side cross-grinding to a roughness of Ra < 0.2 μm

  • High-gloss polishing for a perfect mirror finish

This process requires extreme precision and tight control, especially with such large and heavy units. The result is a clean, uniform mirror surface without visual imperfections, seamlessly complementing the architectural vision.
