Stainless steel polishing requires control over every step of the surface finishing process. Not only for appearance, but also for surface roughness, cleanability and the final application.

We do not only look at how the surface should look, but above all at what it needs to do.
During stainless steel polishing, the surface is refined in several stages. Grinding marks and irregularities are gradually reduced until the required smoothness and gloss are achieved.
How far we take the process depends on the application.
Stainless steel can be polished for:
a smoother and easier-to-clean surface;
low surface roughness;
high-quality visible parts;
a high-gloss finish;
mirror polishing;
further processing or coating.
We work with both cold-rolled and hot-rolled stainless steel. Aluminium and, in consultation, other metals can also be polished.
Polishing is often chosen for its visual appearance. But a smoother stainless steel surface can also provide functional benefits.
For example, in applications where:
dirt should have as little opportunity as possible to adhere to the surface;
cleanability is important;
low surface roughness is required;
the component remains visible;
a high-quality, uniform gloss is required.
That is why stainless steel polishing is used in industries such as food & pharma, machinery and equipment manufacturing, high-tech, architecture, interior design, yacht building and product design.
The required finish differs per application. A machine component with a technical surface requirement needs a different approach from a visible part that has to be fully mirror polished.
A properly polished surface starts before the actual polishing stage.
Anything that is not built up correctly during grinding will remain visible after polishing. That is why we work step by step.
1. Assessing the starting material
We assess the current condition of the surface, any damage, welds, mill scale and the required final quality.
2. Pre-grinding
Where necessary, we first grind the surface flat and even. Scratches, grooves and irregularities are reduced in a controlled manner.
3. Stainless steel polishing
The surface is then refined in several stages. The required steps depend on the material and the desired result.
4. Manual finishing
Complex shapes, corners or areas that cannot be fully reached mechanically can be finished and polished by hand.
5. Final inspection
We inspect the surface for factors such as consistency, gloss, reflection and, where relevant, surface roughness.
The result is not just a shiny surface, but a controlled finish.
Not every polishing process is about achieving mirror gloss.
For applications in industries such as food, pharma and high-tech, surface roughness can be the decisive factor. By coordinating grinding and polishing properly, we can refine the surface in a controlled way.
If a specific Ra value is the main requirement, we define the finishing process around that technical specification.
For applications where surface roughness is the main criterion, we use our dedicated processes for stainless steel grinding to a defined Ra value.
If the surface needs a clearly visible shine, stainless steel can be polished further to achieve a high-gloss finish.
The surface is progressively refined until grinding marks are virtually eliminated and a highly reflective finish is achieved.
High-gloss polished stainless steel is widely used for:
architectural components;
interiors and design;
art objects;
yacht and shipbuilding;
premium machinery and equipment;
high-quality visible parts.
For applications where high gloss is not enough, stainless steel can be further finished to mirror quality.
Not every mirror finish is the same. Depending on the required appearance, we can achieve different grades, ranging from a standard reflective finish to Perfect Mirror No. 10®.

Depending on the required finish, we can grind, brush and further polish sheet material to achieve a smooth or high-gloss result.
Not every part is flat.
Formed components, welded assemblies, tubes and complex products may require a combination of mechanical and manual polishing.
For hard-to-reach areas, small series and complex geometries, our specialists carry out the work manually.
This allows us to finish components for which standard mechanical polishing is not sufficient.
